Can you give me some advice please

Postby Claire Gibbins » Sat Jun 21, 2014 6:17 pm

I have been reffered to the Leeds gender service 1.5 -2 years ago and I have just had another letter saying that I am on the waiting list till 2015, I have been living fully as a woman now for the past 10 years and the longer this takes the more disheartened I am getting.

I have been seeing councilors, physiologists and psychiatrists about been a woman for the 10 years since I came out to my family and friends and to go through this waiting to see more people and to tell them the same as I have told other professionals is quite pathetic that they don't share information even with your consent.

I am looking at going private and I don't know where to start, I don't have a lot of spare money but I am willing to sell everything I own even the clothes off my back to get on with my life as I have been left in limbo by the Leeds gender clinic.

I am having problems also locating private services in the East Yorkshire area to progress my life.

Can you help me please.

This is a complicated issue and something you really need to talk to us about on Skype or similar.

We have a Monday call in and chat room here that maybe of use.

Just join the chat from 9.30pm and ask away we have a good team of people who can interact with you live if you have the confidence you can also call in - you don't have to send video.

However if this is all too much and it may well be.

My advice would be to speak to click here
http://marketplace.transgenderzone.com/?page_id=27

Then search.

If you want private consultations then the two I would recommend at this stage of your care would be

http://marketplace.transgenderzone.com/?page_id=79
Dr Lorimar here at his private practice http://www.gendercare.co.uk/
or Dr Richard Curtis here same page here is his site - http://www.transhealth.co.uk

Both are very good and both will give you a very good assessment and advice. They are also able to refer to the services you need.

There are many routes you can take - and we are here to help you as much as we can with social support.

Yeah I think if your care is 'joined-up' then theoretically this time should be taken into account within the NHS assuming your practitioner operated within the WPATH Standards of Care and is qualified.

However this is all very dependent on your initial assessment at any new clinic.

Personally I would like to see the day where GRS is as simple as having a nose job (Rhinoplasty) your ears pinned back. Both these ops can go wrong under gas!

But sadly trans still have to be performing seals for a substandard state. That only 'recognises' those with a medical certificate to prove they are not 'insane' - whatever that is ;)

We have tweeted this out and also have put it on our Facebook page here.

Just to say that there maybe people in the north that are better placed to answer your query.
