FFS-forehead modification

Postby Ihatemyface » Mon Dec 30, 2013 5:09 am

Hello, I have a question regarding FFS, specifically forehead modification.

I am not transgender but a female with a horribly masculine face. I have read a lot about FFS through other sites, and I really wanted to ask for advice from anybody who is familiar with forehead modification and the different surgeons.

Without mentioning any names (yet), I had my forehead done by a surgeon in the U.S. However I am unhappy with my results. (Not even getting into the fact that one eyebrow is higher than the other) but I am convinced that my forehead was simply burred down, and not actually reconstructed (or recontoured). I feel cheated, because the doctor is insisting that he did it, but I am not so sure, but I have no idea how to find out for sure. It looks like my forehead has the same masculine shape only flattened in the front.

Then, I asked for my before pictures, and I swear I think they were photoshopped to make my forehead look worse than it actually was. (There is a weird deformity of my nose in one of them). I probably sound like a lunatic, but I have a feeling I am being scammed.

Does anybody know a surefire way to see if your forehead was actually redone? I could post pictures if somebody could critique them and tell me what you think. I am just so depressed over this, I have constantly been made fun of throughout my life and I finally thought I would look better, invested so much money, and I feel like I look the same. Any information would be great, or if you know who I could talk to. I am sorry I am posting this here, but I am hoping somebody with forehead modification experience can help. Thank you!

It is important to get a lot of photos taken before you have surgery preferably by a professional photographer. As they act as a filter between your both. As they have original copies in any dispute of photoshopping. Also Like Jane you can have a person also examine what is possible with your face and they actually make subtle changes to your images to demonstrate this again another person in the loop.

If you want very invasive and 'aggressive' FFS - basically you no longer even look like the person you were before - but in a nice way then we have others here who have had this done (in Spain). Suporn in Thailand is pretty good these days, but many now opt to stay on their home soil as legally they are better protected and of course safer should anything go wrong.

Ousterhout in the US was the originator of all this and 'the measurements' of beauty etc. But he is now getting on, I think he still supervises?

As for what you had done? How long ago was it? It can take time. Also if we are body dysmorphic we are sometimes never happy! You can post photos but you will have to use the 18+ forum here as that has a photo upload service. Here read the disclaimers irst though and post the link to here from here. http://18.transgenderzone.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=5

Thanks for your reply. It was Dr. Spiegel. And I did read that he does a very subtle change, which isn't what I wanted (I read that after the fact). But I did discuss what I wanted with him, I wanted my forehead to be moved back to where my nose ends, which is not what he did. I should have done more research but I just didn't even know where to go. His youtube video says that he moves the forehead to the "most attractive feminine shape" and he did not do that. I have my own before and after pictures (with a cell phone, definitely should have had them professionally done), but people who don't know I had it done never even mentioned anything. (and these are close friends, that should/would notice SOMETHING). It's like I got the split ends off my hair or something, not even a word!

I had it done in August. At first it seemed OK, but as everything settled and I can feel my bones, I can feel that the forehead is the SAME SHAPE as before only flatter.

Do you think there's any way I can determine whether they were actually photoshopped? I will post my pictures later. But looking at the before pictures I am just shocked because I really do not believe it was that bad. AND, once I was starting to doubt that he did in fact do what he was supposed to, I asked the patient care coordinator on several occasions (through e-mail), specifically "Did he actually recontour it or did he just shave it down?" And she never answered that question, which makes me very suspicious. Regardless of whether or not she did the procedure, she is the one who works directly with the patients and she should have been able to answer that. The fact that she avoided it all together makes me wonder.

Also, she sent me "before" photos numbers 001, 002, 005, 006, and 007. I asked her where 003 and 004 were, and again, never received a response to that question (after we were going back and forth via e-mail....one after the other, suddenly she stopped responding). That, again, seems very fishy.

The friends who know I had it done think I am dysmorphic, but that's not it at all.

But again, I will post photos later today. Thanks!

Hi:

I regard myself as a competent amateur photographer, and I can usually spot Photoshopping. I am sure a good professional photographer would have even more idea than me how to spot such photographs. Alexandra, who runs http://www.virtualffs.co.uk, would probably also be a lot better than I am at spotting doctored photos.

If you want a second opinion, you could try worse than to consult Keith Altman in Brighton, http://www.keithaltman.com. It would cost you about £150.

If you get revision surgery done in the UK, you are likely to need a psychiatrist to sign you off. Unfortunately, so many patients sue that the doctors are pretty thorough about covering their butts these days.

You should also bear in mind that it takes months, maybe even a year, for post-surgical swelling to disappear.
