I don’t think it is as simple as “your past is your past, so get over it.”

I am certainly haunted by bad gender memories. I would be very surprised I’m the only one.

This cuts two ways. One is that the bad presenting-as-male memories hurt. The other thing is all those little reminders of what I missed. I can’t contribute to women’s conversations about their memories of motherhood, for example; or of their recipe collections when they were cooking for a family.
