Views on straight men who prefer trans women and general femininity

Postby Learning » Thu Jul 16, 2015 5:03 pm

Hi everyone,

So up until recently (the last year or so) I knew very little about the trans community. I consider myself well versed on LGBT+ issues but as you all probably know there is more emphasis on some of those letters than others sometimes so it's sadly quite easy to be ignorant. Anyway, I was reading a thread created on a gossip forum I visit about a trans woman named Miss Suzi, who was explaining why she believes many straight men prefer trans women. This is an excerpt from a blog she wrote:

"I have thought about, discussed, and researched this phenomenon for years and it boils down to this:
We LOVE being women more than most genetic women.
And much more important than that… We do not ever take our femininity for granted the way so many genetic women do. Many of us have sacrificed home, family, friends, careers, fortunes, and hours and hours of hard work each day to be the women we have become.
That is what I believe turns men on the most, the "Hey, Look at me; I'm sexy!" attitude that their wives and girlfriends have either lost or never have gotten quite right. He is probably afraid of the whole homo-thing of course... but quite needlessly so. I have found that the men who date me are more courageous and more masculine and more loving of sexy women than anyone who would not or could not love a special lady.
Sometimes a gentleman just wants to be with a woman who really loves being a woman. He longs for a woman who appreciates his desires and his need to look at, to talk with, to touch, to kiss, and to love a woman in high heels, nylons, lipstick, lace, and perfume with soft smooth shiny skin."

I confess I didn't read the whole thing because it was really long winded and repetitive but it definitely blew me away. On the forum I mentioned earlier, a lot of cis women were upset and confused by these comments. I was about to write off Miss Suzi's perspective as not the norm on the grounds that high heels and fishnets or lack thereof don't make or break a woman when it occurred to me that I hadn't actually asked any trans woman what she thought and it would be pretty erasive to just ignore a perspective like that. If I'm honest I hadn't realised this phenomenon she talks about was so noteworthy. Women dating men is not abnormal at all but I guess that's me being naive for not considering other factors at play. You're obviously in no way obligated to divulge anything but those of you who are sexually attracted to men, do you find your experiences are in keeping with Miss Suzi's? Do the men you have relationships with have a high appreciation for your femininity and do they appreciate displays of it (e.g. "girly" fashion sense)? Has an appreciation for femininity every crossed the border into territory that felt perhaps fetishist? Would you agree or disagree that being trans gives you an appreciation of womanhood that perhaps cis women don't have? Thanks for any answers.

It is interesting, but as a woman who is a nerd/geek who is rebuilding a house covered in crud, I think this nyloned siren is all nonsense and as much fantasy for any woman or trans*woman as anyone else.

Any woman can make time for fantasy and f*ck me shoes (to quote Germaine Greer). It is nice to feel special and tart ourselves up (for want of a better word) in the same way a man looks great in a nice TUX! (See David Beckham) -Most men are scruffy sods and make no effort at all.

Many Cisgender women have children and as such cannot grow their nails long and prance about the house in heels when they have to get the dinner on and the washing done.

Fantasy is just that, that said I have friends here and Mods who specialise in that fantasy (for a price ;)), but I for one. Feel it is a two-way street.

If a girl (trans* or Cis has to mini-skirt about the house in heels, then the men need to make the same effort.
