Friends and Family etiquette

Postby thedreadpersephone » Tue Jul 19, 2011 2:04 pm

Hi and welcome to the friends and family section. Tzone has never had a friends and family forum before in my time here but I have always felt welcome regardless. I hope you do too. :)

Just a couple of suggestions to avoid too much friction in this area.

For friends and family:
This is largely a support forum for trans people. You may at times feel angry or upset with the trans person in your life. This is understandable. However, please show respect to the members of this forum by not posting transphobic comments. Speaking to other trans people may give you an insight into the feelings and experiences of your loved one so please allow people to share their experiences with you.

For other members of the forum:
Please be polite and use the same pronouns, name etc. as the original poster when replying. Friends and family may not be ready to use the 'new' words. I want people to feel that this is a safe place and they are not going to be jumped on for referring to 'my husband' or 'he' for example.
