Google Chrome Insecure Web Warnings Coming Soon!

Postby tzone » Sat Aug 19, 2017 9:11 am

Google want the whole world and the websites to be HTTPS (like what the banks use...) This is obviously an expense that is felt unnecessary for a forum that we already have managed well for decades!

Nevertheless here is what Google is sending out to web developers...

We will not be changing anything and it will remain as it always has apart from the Chrome warning that sadly may put some people off.

This only applies when you enter text that is sent to our database. This database is only accessible by one person the same person it always has. When you enter data always anonymise it. Don't use any personally recogniseable data (telephone/name/address etc) as what you input is going to be public anyway (a question etc) and you are using a 'username' it is not really a problem. Unless you are a university researcher then use your .edu account - no problem!

Chrome will show security warnings on

To owner of,

Starting October 2017, Chrome (version 62) will show a “NOT SECURE” warning when users enter text in a form on an HTTP page, and for all HTTP pages in Incognito mode.

The following URLs on your site include text input fields (such as < input type="text" > or < input type="email" >) that will trigger the new Chrome warning. Review these examples to see where these warnings will appear, so that you can take action to help protect users’ data. This list is not exhaustive.

The new warning is part of a long term plan to mark all pages served over HTTP as “not secure”.

Here’s how to fix this problem:
Migrate to HTTPS

To prevent the “Not Secure” notification from appearing when Chrome users visit your site, only collect user input data on pages served using HTTPS.
