Hi Snowdoggy, Thankyou for your very helpful advice, I'll give leeds a ring on Monday to
see what the situation is. Felix you are really kind I would really appreciate it if you could
ask your advocate if she can clarify the position of Leeds Gic on private patients.
Thankyou both, very much!

Re: Leeds GIC
It's been a while since anyone has posted here and so I thought I would add something to keep this open and up to date.
I've already had my initial appointment with my GP. I was then referred to the local Mental Health Department for a Psychiatric assessment. The Psychiatrist contacted my GP and recommended that I be referred to a Gender Dysphoria Specialist. I was referred by my GP to Leeds GIC and at the same time my GP put my case to the PCT for funding. Since then, Leeds have contacted my GP to request that a number of blood tests be carried out in addition to a physical and sexual characteristics examination. These were all completed and I had my examinations yesterday. Interestingly, my GP had been informed by the PCT that he needn't have applied for my funding as once a patient is referred to the GIC, the funding is set in place - this seems to be a new thing as I was under the impression that funding was a big obstacle to overcome (I'm not complaining ). So, my GP will be forwarding all of my 'stuff and results' to the GIC and I am now officially on the waiting list .
The only problem with that is that I believe that the wait for your first appointment with Leeds is currently around 10 months . That's a very very long time to wait
All for now, I will try to keep updating as and when there is something to add.

Re: Leeds GIC
Good news that you are now officially on the waiting list
When I was officially added to the waiting list the funding had been pulled at Leeds GIC and I was informed that I would have to wait up to 2 years
Believe me those 10 months will fly by and will allow plenty of time for you to adjust and plan for the amazing changes that are to come.
Take care
John

Re: Leeds GIC
Thanks John,
I can't imagine (and hope that I never find out) what it's like for the NHS to withdraw funding - that's awful .
Yes, I'm making the best use I can of the time I have to wait. Laser Hair Removal so that the very stubborn 'dark ones' can at least be well on their way to being gone. I'm also starting to do subtle things so that I can more easily 'feed' in to RLE - things like I already wear womens' jeans and some tops already and I have my hair in a more 'neutral' style.
