A freedom of Information request has revealed the state of play at Charing Cross Hospital in London in regard to GRS.
This is quite useful to know, but we kinda already knew and to be fair what can be done to improve matters other than what they are doing?

We are currently working to improve transparency for the trans community with regards to their NHS healthcare. To aid us with this, please can you answer the following questions under the Freedom of Information Act.
1) How many genital reassignment surgeries (GRS) such as vaginoplasty were completed by you in June 2014? Please break down your answer by surgeon.

2) How many patients who have been referred for GRS had their first pre-operative assessment with you in June 2014? Please break down your answer by surgeon.

3) Please provide a list stating the waiting time from referral to treatment for each patient who had GRS with you in June 2014. If you are unable to comply with this request due to patient confidentiality then please provide the average waiting time of those patients.
The average waiting time was 50.4 weeks.
4) How many new referrals for GRS did you receive in June 2014?

5) As of the end of June 2014, how many patients are waiting for gender reassignment surgery with you?
Please break down your answer by patient gender and type of surgery, and also break your answer into the following categories:
a) Patients who have been approved for the operation and given a date;
There are 30 patients awaiting male to female treatment.
b) Patients who have been approved for the operation and are waiting for a date;
There are 53 patients awaiting male to female treatment.
c) Patients who have been put on hold as they are not yet fit for surgery (eg requiring weight loss, hair removal, etc);
Currently there are 30 patients on hold.
d) Patients who have not yet had their initial consultation with the consultant.
172 (of these 52 have been given a date for their appointment).
e) Any other patients (please explain)
