Counselling

Postby Different_Trains » Fri Aug 23, 2013 11:47 am

I was referred in November last year to a specialist gender counsellor at Charing Cross. A week ago I got told that I am still on the list, but the person referring is on holiday for a month or so. It'll be a while yet I think.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with these specialist counsellors?

I saw one, but she didn't talk about gender stuff, just stuff in general, and nagged me quite a lot. Seemed like quite a lot of trouble to go to for generic counselling.

So, the specialist gender counsellors aren't specialists? :eh:

I'm not sure. I was a bit surprised at the lack of direction, and thought that if general counselling was thought necessary, it would've been more cost effective for both the NHS and myself to arrange it locally. Maybe it's just the way mine turned out, though.

With respect CBH, I recall you mentioning that you had some other issues with general Life though, so perhaps the counsellor thought that in your case a broader approach was best?
