Sparkle - 2011 - Manchester

Postby AbracaDebra » Thu Apr 14, 2011 3:13 pm

Hi all

Does anybody get involved with (or go to) Sparkle (The National Transgender Celebration) ?
This year it's on 8th, 9th & 10th of July (Manchester).
I've never been and was wondering about it. Has anybody been to previous ones, and what was it like?

Hugs,
Debbie

yeah they never seem to be interested in us and we dont do chasing ;)

Its 'national' if you live in Manchester of course ;)

type he single word 'transgender' into google and see who is top :P

youd think that alone would be worthwhile to them but heyho

'Tranny of the year' event?

Good Grief

Sparkle Transgender Queen and King would make more sense and offer a tad of dignity i think.

Oh.

I'm coming from knowing nothing about it of course. When you say they show no interest in us I was wondering what you mean. How would they? Isn't it just a huge get together and celebration for everbody? :?

As for Manchester. Well isn't it the LGBT capital of the country? ;)

I do see what you mean about some of the terms though. I've only glanced quickly and they do appear a bit 'crass'. :(

Debbie

I meant in terms of promoting themselves or press releases - silly really

The event no doubt attracts 'all sorts' :) but is it a celebration?

I couldn't say, from arms length it just comes across as a bit tacky, but who am I to judge - if its sunny I am sure people will have a great time Xxx

It now seems that I am likely to be there, helping. I will likely be on one of the stalls.
I guess if, as you say, the weather is nice, it will just be a fun day out. :D

Debbie.
