What are you reading at the moment?

Postby snowdoggy » Thu Jun 10, 2010 4:13 pm

I thought I'd start up this thread again from the old board. If this has already been set up somewhere else and I've missed it can someone let me know or move my post.

I've just finished reading a book called "Gypsy Boy" and thought it was a really good book:-
http://www.play.com/Books/Books/4-/1230 ... oduct.html

It dispels a lot of the myths surrounding Romany gypsies and their culture including the myth that they put curses on people. According to the guy who wrote the book they are more convinced that non-gypsies may put a curse on them.

I won't say much more about it in case anyone fancies reading it other than there are a few surprises along the way, some that I suspected and one ot two that I didn't see coming.

I think Stephen Fry's review sums it up quite well:-
'It was a revelation. Moving, terrifying, funny and brilliant. I shall never forget it - an amazing achievement'

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Most English book ever written
I'm not sure that it is the most English book ever written - I'm not English and I love it! It is, however, one of the greatest books ever written!

:-D

I'm not reading anything at the moment - I'm not sure why, but I do need to find a good book to read soon. I'll keep you posted when I do start reading something...

Quirky and amusing.
