Dirty Sexy Money Carmelita Killed Off
This is not a new story but it is running in the UK atm. So if you have not seen it in advance then this is a spoiler you have been warned
!!!Last week (UK) it was revealed that Patrick Darling played by Billy Baldwin and his transgender mistress
Carmelita played by the Candis Cayne (an actual transgender women for once). Patricks' wife had claimed that she had had her 'taken care of 'it'' during a shower scene which led to her smashing his shower with a golf club slipping and hitting her head on the marble/granite work surface and killing her instantly.
However, this was not the case and Carmelita returned. But sadly this joy was not to last.
Candice seriously broke ground with her character and showed the world that transgender women can play
transgender women, and bloody well too!
It also showed that a man can be proud to be with a transgender woman and although fictitious in the same way a fictitious black president in 24 made it acceptable to have a black president in advance of Obama
Who knows maybe this will help other trans actresses coming up for roles?
The relationship with Patrick in the series has also shown that it is possible to have a loving relationship with a transgender women that for many is a seriously stigmatising issue.
Her time on the show eventually ends when Candis Cayne as Carmelita is standing shoulder to shoulder at Patrick's inauguration a vision of things to come maybe?
Patick and Carmelita share a final kiss not knowing what is to come and that it will be their last.

Sadly this dream was not meant to be and shots are heard and Camelita was no more.
As is often the case with many screenplays the 'social callous' or obstacle (Cayne) must be cut from the host in the most violent way possible. Thus returning the script once more to a socially acceptable path.
The problem is for many transpeople this is not fiction. For them and their loved ones it is reality and all to common and ironically just when they get their lives where they want them they face a similar
peril. To have one of the biggest transgender screen idols in recent years murdered out of the series
sends the wrong message down the line, that the best type of transgender person is a dead one.
Regardless of the ending, this character has opened the way now for others to follow.
Instead of settling for supporting artist in sleazy bar roles, or third hooker from the right in Hollywood Boulevard pop videos.Transgender talent can finally see what is possible and use Cayne as an example.
They just need casting agents elsewhere to be open minded and see this, and most of all in the UK where transgender roles are for the most part played by cisgender women, as a result their efforts are 'thin' and lack substance when copared to a transgender equivalent. They do not have that 'edge' of authenticity
that an actual transgender woman (or man) can bring in the same way a blacked up white man cannot possibly play a black person as well as a black person.
Candice Cayne 'brought it' and for that i am eternally grateful.
