Question about shoe/feet sizes

Postby Lairiana » Wed Jan 12, 2011 2:44 pm

I can't find any information about this, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

How do you convert men's sizes to women's? I'm a size 9 in men's, and some sites seem to suggest that women's are different by two, so would that mean I'm a 7 or a (Eeek) 11? Another site suggested I might be a 9.5, so I'm just really confused.

Just checked my Converse, and they say 11. Is that right, then?

I went from mostly 10 in mens to mostly 9 in womens - sometimes 8s depending on brand. This may be due to the fact that as a woman I generally wear thin tights instead of thick socks.

So it's a decrease and not an increase? :)

I usually wear thick socks too, so maybe some size 8 socks would fit me.

I think so... but they also fit differently. For instance if you are wearing business type high heels they are very rigid and need to fit quite tightly. If you are wearing boots you can have them a bit looser and wear socks to keep them in place if needed.

Your converse will be U.S sizes which are different.

As someone who has bought a lot of shoes online, my advice would be, pluck up the courage to try them on. Until then, go for an 8 but live with minimal footwear because you could blow a lot of cash on footwear that doesn't fit!!!!

Women's clothing in general is made to be tried on. Sizes are just there to confuse and annoy you.
