Kent Trans Forum: We're Having a forum!

Postby Cassie » Sat Oct 01, 2011 9:13 pm

When? Thursday 13th October 2011– 7-9pm
Where? Gregory House, St Martins Hospital, Littlebourne Road, Canterbury, CT1 1TD
Forum? Yes, an interactive, workshop type meeting; nice, friendly, informal atmosphere, where everybody can have their say, find out what is going on and tell us what you think should be going on.
Dress? Your choice; there’s a private dressing room, open from 6.30pm and, if you’d like to join us at our regular, friendly pub afterwards, then re-dressing facilities will be available before you go home.
Who can come? Anyone on the KTF mailing list and family/friends who would like to know more about KTF.
Anybody else from anywhere on the transgender spectrum, or anyone who’s interested in helping to support transgender people or their families in some way. Not so called ‘admirers’.
If you do plan to come, we’d count it a big favour if you e-mail and let us know: info@kenttransforum.org – it’ll really help us get the rooms and catering sorted !!!

Catering? Oh, yes! Coffee, tea, biscuits (choccy too), cake (as long as it lasts) – No charge.
Safe? Yes! Gregory House is a secured office building, set in parkland, isolated from the road and other buildings, with good, free parking right next to it. Ideal for any TVs/CDs who’d like to arrive dressed. To find it, use the main entrance to St Martins; turn left at the fork inside; Gregory House is immediately on your right.
So how's this working then? Ok, first coffee, tea, hellos, etc. Then we’ll quickly split into 4 (maybe 5) roughly equal groups, with an office area each, a facilitator and different subjects to discuss:
We are privileged again to have our friends, the Kent Police, facilitating a group in the person of Anne Wakeman, who runs their Trans e-forum, which we just joined. Learn about their policies for people like us, whether as victims or offenders. Ask questions; tell them what they could do better.
Other groups will be facilitated by our working group leaders and committee members. Same story; find out what they are doing; ask questions; give them your ideas. There’ll be a suggestion box too!
After about 20 minutes, we’ll all swop groups for another 20 mins, have a tea break, then swop groups a couple more times, so everybody gets the chance to chat to everybody.
Sounds like speed dating? Not quite! Sounds like chaos? Well, we did manage to handle this format at our recent launch event and people did seem to like it, so we’re giving it another go.
See you there?

Disclaimer!!!! Please Read! http://media.transgenderzone.com/?page_id=2

"Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For, indeed, that's all who ever have." M.Mead

Man [...] must count no one but himself; that he is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without help, with no other aim than the one he sets himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth." - J.P.Sartre.
